Medicare Insurance
Medicare consists of four separate policies, referred to as Part A, Part B, Part C, and Part D. Part A comes from the federal government. When you turn 65, you qualify for it. You must register to receive it. Part A covers hospital stays. Part B covers things like doctor’s visits while Part C covers prescription drugs. Obtaining Part D insurance means you obtain a package deal that includes Part B and Part C insurance which you can only obtain once you have qualified for and obtained Part A. While the government pays for Part A, you pay for Part B, Part C, or Part D.
In Florida, as in other states, you can combine your insurance when you incur an injury. That means that you could, if you were over the age of 65, use your Part A Medicare to pay for your hospital bill then use your long-term disability insurance to pay for your rehabilitative convalescence. Your Part C, if you elected to purchase it, would pay for your prescriptions.
